Want to dominate College Football 26? Here's how you become 10X better than everyone else. These aren't complicated schemes that take hours to learn. This is the stuff that actually works — broken down so simple that anyone can use it to win more games.
I've played and taught football games at the highest level. Everything here? It's what actually works when you need to score touchdowns and get stops. No fluff. Just the exact buttons to press and when to press them.
Let's get into it.
How Do I Stop Corner Routes That Keep Burning Me?
Corner routes killing you? Here's the fix — and it's stupid simple.
First, adjust your zone drops. Click the right stick in to bring up coaching adjustments. Scroll to Zone Drops Curl Flats. Set it to 20 yards (or 25/15 depending on their route depth).
Now call Cover 3 or Tampa 2. Take your slot corner on the corner route side — press A on him, then right on the left stick to put him in a curl flat.
That curl flat is going to sit RIGHT where they want to throw the corner route. Ball snaps — corner route is bagged.
Want to lock down the entire sideline? Press Y/Triangle, then down on the right stick for hard flats. Now you've got underneath AND over-the-top coverage. They literally can't throw to that side of the field.
The corner route is DONE. They have to attack somewhere else.
What's the Fastest Way to Change Pass Protection?
Forget the pass protection menu. Here's the shortcut that'll save you time every play.
Just flick the right stick:
- Right stick right = Half slide protection right
- Right stick left = Half slide protection left
- Both sticks same direction = Full slide (don't recommend this)
No menu. No animation. Just flick and you're protected.
Need to untarget a defender? Flick up on the right stick. See that flame icon? That defender is now untargeted. Your line won't waste a blocker on him unless he actually blitzes.
This is HUGE when you're trying to set up hot routes quickly. Every second counts.
What Ball Carrier Move Actually Makes Defenders Miss?
The back juke. This move makes defenders look SILLY — both users and CPU.
How to do it: Hold Right Trigger + push right stick back at an angle (like 5 o'clock or 7 o'clock).
When do you use this? When defenders are coming at you from an angle. Normal jukes don't work here. Spins don't work. But the back juke? They fly right by you.
BANG — let them whiff. Score the easy touchdown.
This works in the run game, pass game, whenever you're in open field with someone closing on an angle. The CPU especially can't handle it. They just blow right past you.
How Do I Shut Down QB Run Spam?
QB Blast ruining your day? Copy this exactly and lock them up.
Step 1: Call any Cover 4 (Cover 4 Quarters works great).
Step 2: User the weak side safety (the side with less offensive players). You're going to be aggressive with this guy.
Step 3: If they still have numbers, press right on D-pad then right bumper. This shows blitz with just your linebackers — gets more bodies in the box without selling out completely.
This stops ALL types of QB runs — powers, draws, whatever they're trying. You've got more defenders than they have blockers. Math wins.

Can I Hot Route on RPOs Now?
YES — and it makes RPOs way more dangerous.
Any RPO receiver that's NOT on a bubble? You can hot route them. Here's what I do:
The Out Route Setup: Call RPO Read Flat Wheel. Take the outside receiver (who's on an in route) and hot route him to a baby out route. Forces the defense to defend the sideline every play. If they don't? Easy 4-5 yards minimum.
The Streak Up the Middle: Take your tight end on any RPO and put him on a streak. While they're focused on the run or the normal RPO routes, this streak gets a free release up the field. Usually a big gain.
Remember — this isn't unstoppable. You still have to make the read. But now defenses have to respect way more options on every RPO.
How Do I Get Free Sacks When They Untarget My User?
Good players untarget your user on blitzes. Here's how to punish them for it.
When you're running an overload blitz (like Mid Blitz or Double Mug) and they keep picking up your pressure:
Hold Left Trigger + Down on Left Stick = User rush
Since they untargeted you, you come COMPLETELY free. Right up the middle or through the B gap. They don't have time for any routes to develop. Free sack.
Don't do this every time — you're sending everybody. But in big situations? They'll never see it coming. And now they CAN'T untarget your user anymore, so your regular blitzes start working again.
What's QB Playmaker and Why Is It Broken?
Master this and you become unstoppable on offense. For real.
How to QB Playmaker: Hold Left Trigger + flick right stick in any direction. The closest receiver to you changes his route and goes that direction.
This is INSANE against zone coverage. See a receiver who's covered? Playmaker him to open grass. Works best with routes over the middle — drags, crossers, whatever.
The defense can't bag you anymore. You literally redirect receivers to the open spots in real-time.
Should I Quick Snap More Often?
YES. Quick snapping keeps defenses off balance — they can't set up their adjustments.
Best plays for quick snapping:
- Plays that need zero hot routes (RPOs, certain pass concepts)
- Plays that need just ONE hot route
- Any run play
Example: In Gun Wolf Trio Close formation, call Flood from the Oregon State playbook. Snap it IMMEDIATELY. No adjustments, no setup time for the defense.
Mix this in for a full drive or just a few plays. Add hurry up to snap even faster. The defense can't handle the pace.
What Three Routes Should Be in Every Play I Call?
Have at least ONE of these routes on every offensive play. Ideally, get all three.
1. Drag Route (from slot receiver or tight end)
Gets open against everything. Different spots every time. Just watch #80 — he's open on EVERY single play.
2. Return Route (ideally outside of a drag)
Sits in between zones. Beats man coverage. When the drag gets covered, the return is open. When the return gets covered, the drag is open.
3. Halfback Flat Route
Forces hard flats or man coverage. Not as good as the other two, but keeps the defense honest.
With this combo, you ALWAYS have someone open underneath. Every. Single. Play.
What Do I Do When I Get Stuck on a D-Lineman?
Making adjustments and the ball snaps while you're on a D-lineman? Don't panic.
Just click up on the D-pad.
BOOM — you're on a coverage defender who can actually make a play. Works every time. No more wasted plays because you got caught on the wrong player.
That's it. Up on the D-pad. Problem solved.
