What Is a User Rush Sack?
User rush sacks are FREE pressure you get when opponents untarget your user defender. Here's how it works:
Most players hover their user near the offensive line on blitzes. When the ball snaps — you fake rush for a second to confuse blockers. This lets your actual pass rushers come free.
But good players catch on. They start untargeting your user — calling your bluff. They tell their offensive line "ignore that user, just block the real rushers."
That's when you flip the script. Hold Left Trigger + Down on Left Stick right when the ball snaps. Now YOU become the real rusher. Since they're untargeting you — you come completely free.
This is the untargeted rush. It's not a setup play — it's a counter-punch when opponents think they're being smart.
How to Set Up User Rush Sacks
First — you need an overload style blitz. These work best:
- Double Mug — most popular option
- Mid Blitz — super overload concept
- Any heavy pressure package with 5+ rushers
Your pre-snap setup:
- Position user near offensive line
- Act like you're going to rush — hover close
- Watch for signs they're untargeting you
Signs they're untargeting:
- Your normal blitzes get picked up clean
- QB has too much time in pocket
- Offensive line ignores your user movement
When you see this — time to counter.
The Execution
Ball snaps. Immediately hold Left Trigger + Down on Left Stick.
Don't hesitate. Don't fake it. Go straight at the QB.
You'll come free through the B gap or up the middle. Since they're not blocking you — it's a free path to the quarterback.
When to Use User Rush Sacks
DO NOT spam this every play. You're sending everybody — no coverage help.
Use it as a change-up in big situations:
- 3rd and long when you NEED a stop
- Two-minute drill scenarios
- When opponent gets too comfortable
- Red zone situations
Perfect timing is when you've been running regular overload blitzes for a few drives. They start picking it up clean. That's when you know they're untargeting.
One user rush sack changes everything. Now they can't untarget you anymore. Your regular blitzes start working again.
Why User Rush Sacks Work
It's all about game theory. Most players think usersd are just for confusion. They don't expect the user to actually rush.
When they untarget your user — they're essentially playing with 10 blockers against 11 rushers. Math doesn't work.
The untargeted rush exploits this gap. You become the 11th rusher they forgot about.
Psychological impact is huge. One free sack makes opponents paranoid. They have to account for your user again. This opens up your normal blitz packages.
What Counters User Rush Sacks
Smart opponents will adjust once they get burned:
- Quick game — 3-step drops, slants, hitches
- Hot routes — automatic throws vs blitz
- Running back checkdowns — dump offs when pressure comes
- Slide protection — keeping extra blockers
If they start countering — that's actually good for you. Quick game and checkdowns are low-yardage plays. You're forcing them into your preferred outcomes.
Common Mistakes with User Rush
Using it too early. Don't rush until you KNOW they're untargeting. If they're still blocking your user — regular fake pressure works better.
Hesitating on the rush. When you decide to go — GO. Half-speed rush gets you nowhere.
Running it too often. This is a change-up pitch, not your fastball. Once per drive maximum.
Wrong situations. Don't user rush on 1st and 10. Save it for passing downs where you need pressure.
Not reading the result. If your user rush gets picked up — they're not untargeting anymore. Go back to regular blitz concepts.
Advanced User Rush Tips
Mix your approach angles. Sometimes come through A gap, sometimes B gap. Keep offensive line guessing.
Watch the running back. If RB stays in to block — he might pick you up. Look for different rush lanes.
Time your rush with other blitzers. Hit the QB right as he's trying to escape other pressure.
The user rush sack isn't about being aggressive. It's about being smart. When opponents think they've figured you out — that's when you change the game.
