What Is The Back Juke Move?
Right trigger + push the right stick back at an angle. That's it. Push it to seven or five o'clock position.
This move makes defenders FLY right past you. They come in thinking they got you — NOPE. You just skirt around them and they're eating turf.
The back juke is DEADLY against both users and CPU defenders. While other moves might work on humans but fail against AI, this one crushes both. CPU defenders especially will just blow right by you when you hit this move correctly.
You can hold right trigger the entire time if you want. Makes it even easier to execute when you see that defender coming.
When Should You Use The Back Juke?
Use it when defenders are coming at you from an angle. Not straight on — at an ANGLE.
Normal jukes and spins? They're good for certain situations. But when someone's approaching you diagonally — that's back juke time. Let them commit to their angle, then BOOM. You're gone.
This move works in:
- Run game — Breaking tackles in the backfield
- Pass game — After the catch in open field
- Any open field situation — Kickoff returns, punt returns, broken plays
The key is reading that approach angle. Defender coming straight at you? Different move. Coming from your left or right at an angle? Back juke destroys them.
Why The Back Juke Works So Well
Defenders commit to their pursuit angle. They're running full speed trying to cut you off at a certain point. When you back juke, you're changing that point — and they can't adjust in time.
Think about it. Defender sees you, picks an angle, starts running. His momentum is carrying him to where he THINKS you'll be. Back juke puts you somewhere else entirely.
CPU defenders are especially vulnerable. They calculate pursuit angles and commit HARD. Human players might be able to react — AI defenders just keep running their programmed path.
This is why the back juke beats CPU defenders more consistently than stop-and-go moves. CPU won't fall for timing games, but they WILL overcommit to angles.
How To Execute The Back Juke
Step 1: Hold right trigger as you're running
Step 2: See defender approaching from an angle
Step 3: Push right stick back and to the side (7 o'clock or 5 o'clock position)
Step 4: Watch defender fly past you
The timing matters. Don't do it too early — defender can still adjust. Don't do it too late — you'll get tackled. Hit it right when they're committed to their angle but before they reach you.
Practice the stick movement. It's not straight back — it's back at an ANGLE. Seven o'clock if you want to go left, five o'clock if you want to go right.
You can keep holding right trigger through the whole sequence. Makes it smoother and you're ready for the next move if needed.
Common Back Juke Mistakes
Using it against straight-on defenders. Back juke is for ANGLED approaches. Straight-on tacklers need different moves.
Wrong timing. Too early and they adjust. Too late and you're down. Practice reading when defenders commit to their angle.
Forgetting the angle on the stick. It's not straight back — it's back and to the side. Seven or five o'clock, not six o'clock.
Only using it in run game. This move is LETHAL after catches too. Don't limit yourself to handoffs.
What Beats The Back Juke?
Disciplined pursuit angles. Defenders who don't overcommit to one angle can still make tackles.
Multiple defenders. Back juke beats one defender at a time. Two defenders coming from different angles? You need different solutions.
Perfect timing from users. Good human players can sometimes react and adjust, especially if they recognize the setup.
The counter is usually having help defense or not overcommitting to pursuit angles. But most players — especially CPU — will bite on this move.
Advanced Back Juke Tips
Chain it with other moves. Back juke to beat the first defender, then spin or stiff arm the next one.
Use it near sidelines. Defenders coming from inside angles can't recover when you back juke toward the sideline.
Watch for overaggressive users. Some players always take aggressive angles — back juke punishes this HARD.
The back juke isn't complicated. Right trigger, stick back at an angle, watch defenders miss. But it's one of those moves that separates players who score from players who get tackled in the open field.
Master this move and you'll break WAY more big plays. Defenders will start looking silly, and you'll start seeing a lot more touchdowns on the scoreboard.
