How to Get More QB Pressure in College Football 27
Two options. Cover zero or pressure from your base. Pick one based on what you're willing to risk.
Cover zero = sell out. You're sending everybody. Fast pressure, zero safety net. If it doesn't get there quick, you're cooked.
Base pressure = Texas Four-Man stunt plus Guest Pass. Lower risk. You stay in your coverage and still get sheds.
Most people mess up cover zero because their blitz takes forever. That's the whole problem. A slow cover zero is a bad cover zero. The linebackers are sitting 10 yards off the QB. That's two, three seconds of free routes. You need them closer. You need them coming fast.
Fix that first. Everything else is details.

4-2-5 Over G. LB Blitz is the play. Most formations have a version of this. Start here.
Step by step:
- Turn off your shell. Go default. This gets your linebackers off the sticks and up closer.
- Show blitz your linebackers, right stick / right bumper
- Contain, right bumper, left bumper
- Press, hold left trigger, down on left stick
- Shade inside, hold left trigger, left stick inside
- Commit inside. Right stick
- User the guy man'd up on the halfback
Count it after you set it up. One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three. That's how fast it needs to get there. If it's slower than that, adjust.
You're in a 5 DB look with Over G so you won't get full press across the board. That's fine. The setup still works.
You can also get more advanced. Zone somebody out, disguise things pre-snap. But get the base version working first before you start layering stuff on top.
What Makes This Work
Pinch. Show blitz. Contain. In that order. Those three adjustments pull your linebackers up and cut the time the QB has to throw. Without them, your cover zero is just a normal blitz with no safety. Which is the worst of both worlds.

If you don't want to sell out, use your base and add stunts. This is how you stay in Cover Three Sky and still move the pocket.
Texas Four-Man is the best stunt in the game right now for this.
How to apply it:
- Spread your D-line, left on right stick, up on left stick
- Select Texas Four-Man, left on right stick, right bumper, left on D-pad, right bumper
- Or build it into a macro so you're not burning time mid-play
- Or select it straight from the play call screen. Hold down the play icon
This works best when you have fast defensive ends and solid athletes at tackle. The stunt loops them through gaps and triggers sheds faster than a straight rush. The results shift a little depending on your formation, so lab it with your specific personnel.
Also add Guest Pass on top of this. Right bumper, up on right stick. It gives you a free runner and helps pop sheds even faster. These two together are your base pressure package.
---When to Use Cover Zero vs. Base Pressure
Cover zero. Short yardage, goal line, obvious passing downs. Third and long. You KNOW they're throwing. You're willing to risk getting beat deep because the situation demands a stop.
Base pressure - everything else. You want pressure but you can't give up big plays. Two-high shell stays on. You still have coverage behind it. Texas Four-Man and Guest Pass do the work without you sending extra bodies.
Don't run cover zero every play. Offense will figure it out and you'll get torched. Mix it in. Make it mean something.
---What Are the Most Common Mistakes With QB Pressure?
Mistake 1: Slow cover zero.Linebackers sitting 10 yards off. QB throws it before they get close. You gave up a route with zero chance of a sack. Turn off your shell. Show blitz. Contain. Get them up.
Mistake 2: No stunt on base rushing downs.Straight four-man rush with no adjustment. The O-line picks it up clean every time. Add Texas Four-Man. Add Guest Pass. Give the line something to process.
Mistake 3: Not labbing your cover zero per formation.Every formation is a little different. The linebackers line up different. The coverage angles change. Set it up in practice mode. Count the seconds. Adjust until it's fast.
Mistake 4: Forgetting to user the halfback matchup. In cover zero, that's your biggest liability. If you're not controlling that defender, a dump-off to the back beats the blitz every time. Stay on him.
---Quick Reference, Pressure Calls in CF27
- Cover Zero, sell out, short yardage, obvious passing downs
- Texas Four-Man stunt, best base rush option, use it with fast ends
- Guest Pass, pairs with Texas Four-Man, triggers sheds faster, free rusher
- Zone blitzes, solid option, mix in to keep offense guessing
- Pirate Three-Man, useful depending on matchup and year
You don't need to run all of these. Pick cover zero OR base pressure. Get one working first. Then add the second one once you know what you're doing.
