Quick Recap:

Fix these 12 settings to stop losing games: use a wired ethernet connection, enable Auto Flip on defense, adjust Heat Seeker for better tackling, and optimize your pass settings. Your network needs 100+ download speed, 10+ upload speed, and 0% packet loss to eliminate button input lag. Copy these exact settings and you'll win more games tonight.

Which Settings Actually Make You Win More Games?

Look — you're losing games because of your settings. Not your stick skills. Your SETTINGS.

I've coached over 10,000 players. The guys who fix these 12 settings immediately start winning more. The ones who don't? They keep complaining about "lag" and "broken game mechanics."

Here's what we're fixing TODAY:

  • Network lag that's making your buttons not work
  • Defense getting torched because Auto Flip is OFF
  • Missing tackles because Heat Seeker is wrong
  • Throwing picks instead of TDs with bad pass settings

Copy these exact settings. Takes 5 minutes. You'll win more games TONIGHT.

Why Is My Game Lagging Even With Good Internet?

Once you control your offense, everything else starts to click.

Now, a lot of people actually lose games because of something that lives outside of the game.

Go into your console settings — all the way over, likely in settings, then down into network settings.

Use Wired Connection

First of all, we want to be on a wired network.

You need an ethernet cord from your console to your router.

Test Your Network Stats

If you're on Xbox, go down to test network speed and statistics. There's a similar option for PlayStation.

For download speed — ideally you have about 100 if not higher.

For upload speed — you literally just need like 10, you'll be good.

Key Network Metrics

Packet loss is a big one — ideally this is really at about 0% because this is what's going to be a big idea behind latency.

This will also go hand in hand with latency where you'll have lag with your button inputs.

So if you've ever felt like you've hit a button and it is delayed, there's usually an issue with your packet loss or your latency.

Usually for latency, you'd want this around 25 or under.

If You're on Wi-Fi

Biggest thing you can do is:

  1. Just get your console closer to the router or your router closer to the console
  2. Make sure you're not using that Wi-Fi with other devices — whether it's your phone at the time of playing or other people might be also on the same Wi-Fi, like on Netflix or downloading games on their own console

This can be a big deal because any kind of lag in game will cause us to lose games.

How Do I Stop Getting Beat Deep on Defense?

If that easy touchdown up the seam has ever been scored on you before — I have the solution.

That touchdown is likely due to you having the WRONG setting called Auto Flip Defensive Play Call.

Where To Find It

You can find this in your main menu settings. You want to turn this ON.

You can also start every game and turn it on by:

  • Click the right stick in
  • Go to coaching adjustments

But if you just put it in your settings, this will always stay on.

Why This Matters

The strength of our defense will stay with the strength of the offense when auto flip is on.

That's important for every formation — but ESPECIALLY formations like Nickel where we have a clear strong side with the nickel corner.

How This Affects Coverage

With Auto Flip OFF:

  • I'm blitzing off the strong side
  • We're going to leave the strong side wide open
  • The middle third is going to roll from the weak side
  • The seam throw is going to be wide open

With Auto Flip ON:

  • They have three wide receivers to the right
  • We want that cover three — the middle third — to be coming from the right side
  • The safety is always lined up with their strength

This will help make sure that your defense is always set up to match what they're doing on offense — not leaving massive holes because you're aligned wrong.

Why Can't I Make Open Field Tackles?

You can instantly improve your defense just by going into your main menu game settings.

In our game options, scroll down. Go find our defensive settings because there's one big one we have to change — Heat Seeker Assist.

This right now is off, and it actually will toggle off for you a lot, so you got to check it.

Here's what to do:

  • Flip Heat Seeker Assist ON
  • Put Heat Seeker Window Size at 200%

This is going to help your user defender just get steered closer to the ball carrier and be able to make tackles.

And we all know that making tackles in the open field is often the difference between 3 yards and 30 yards.

What's The Best Switch Stick Setting?

Look, if you've struggled with switch sticking in this game, there's a good chance it's because you have the wrong setting.

There's actually a setting that'll make you a significantly better switch sticker — or if you have it wrong, it's going to hurt your switch stick quite a bit.

How to Find the Setting

Press the pause button and go into our options. You can be in the main menu here as well.

Scroll down and find the setting called Switch Stick Delay.

You need to have this on SLIGHT.

Why This Setting Matters

First of all, never have it on disabled. That's the worst one. We want switch stick. There's no harm done by switch stick. I promise you. I've coached thousands of players — no harm is done here.

The Problem with "None"

The reason we don't want it at none is because no switch stick delay is going to let us switch stick immediately at the snap.

If you have it at none, you'll be able to switch stick instantly. This is nice, you think, but if you're ever making an adjustment at the snap, you might accidentally switch stick off the defender you want to be on because you're trying to make an adjustment with the right stick.

The Problem with "Moderate"

Sometimes people want to put it at moderate. Switch stick delay is purely just delaying the amount of time after the snap that you're able to switch stick. It doesn't affect anything else.

So moderate delay for me takes a little bit too long. If I try to switch stick immediately, I can't until about a second or so after the snap. That could be too slow.

Why SLIGHT is the Sweet Spot

Remember — this switch stick delay only changes immediately after the snap. All your other switch sticks are going to be instant regardless if you're on none, slight, or moderate.

How Do I Stop Throwing Interceptions on Deep Balls?

You're missing touchdowns because your pass settings aren't tuned. So let's fix that.

Watch — if I just do a normal pass lead on it, it becomes a really tough throw and we don't catch this.

But the EXACT same ball — I'm going to do what's called a free form pass. Notice this time we catch it for an easy touchdown.

What's the actual difference?

Go to Options → Settings

Scroll until you get to Pass Mechanics:

  • Pass Lead Increase: Small
  • Reticle Speed: 7

This opens up free form passing. These are the best settings right here — copy these.

How Free Form Passing Works

When you hold Left Trigger (L2) while passing, you get a wider range to actually pass lead.

Right here I hold L2 — notice I get a little bit outside of the initial gray circle.

This time I'm NOT going to hold L2. Watch — when I don't hold L2, I can't get outside of the gray circle. Actually results in an interception.

Everything else is the same. But simply by having the correct passing settings and using that free form passing — we go from throwing an interception to a touchdown.

That's going to make you win more games.

Why Am I Getting Beat By Post Routes?

Ever have a post route get caught right over the middle of the field because your defense isn't aligned correctly? If this ever happened to you, keep watching.

So we have a post route going over the middle of the field, and watch what my deep zone defender does. He's going to allow this post route to get caught right in front of his face.

This is actually an alignment issue that we can fix inside of our coaching adjustments.

How To Fix It

Step 1: Select the same play on offense, and on defense, click the right stick in

You can make this adjustment at the beginning of every game or as you see fit during the game.

Step 2: Scroll to your safety depth and safety width

Step 3: Go one tick to the left on both of them — close and pinch

This is going to bring our safeties down into the box and get them tighter together to where they're going to defend the middle of the field a little bit better.

This is great if you're in Cover Two, Cover Three, or Cover Four.

The Results

Now watch what happens here as I try to throw the same post route in front of that player. He's going to do a significantly better job of being in a great spot.

By going close and pinch in our coaching adjustments, we're able to get an interception.

How Do I Stop Option Plays Every Time?

This is one of those things that'll get you tilted when you give up a big play because it's totally preventable and it's only happening because you're just being lazy.

Let's talk about how to stop this way fast.

All you need to do — begin EVERY game to do this — flick the right stick in. That's our coaching adjustments.

The Settings

Option Read Key: Conservative

  • Focus on the QB on every read option ever

Pitch Key: Aggressive

  • We play that pitch option
  • If they try to run a speed option, we're going to make the QB keep it and then lay him out, add some wear and tear

RPO Read Key: Conservative

  • This is just an RPO with a read option

Pass Key: Conservative

  • We're always going to play pass coverage
  • That means the bubble or the slant
  • We'll leave the run open in this situation

What Are The Best Custom Audibles To Set?

You're hurting your offense because you do not have the right system set in place right now to have all of your best plays always available.

I'm in the Charlotte offensive playbook. I love this playbook. At any moment, I always will come out in the Gun Trio in the play Verticals. But I can audible to ANY of my favorite plays across the entire playbook.

The way I'm able to do this is because I actually set my custom audibles — which is something you need to do.

How To Set Custom Audibles

Setup Location:

  • You can do this in practice mode, but that can be a little buggy sometimes
  • Instead, go into an offline game
  • Do this ONE TIME, you're good forever

Steps:

  1. In the play call screen, tap the left trigger and you're going to see your audibles
  2. Mine are already set, but let's say I didn't want Off Tackle here
  3. I would select it, then I would select from one of the plays that are not already an audible
  4. Let's say I want Halfback Slip Screen here — BOOM, then I'm good to go

Do this across your entire playbook and this will give you access to everything you need always.

Why Does My Pass Protection Keep Getting Beat?

Look, every single play has built-in pass pro. This one has a half slide to the left, but if I audible over to Double Cross, you'll see this one has empty protection. And then if I go over to Y Stick, this one has base blocking.

So all these are different. You don't know what all of these are. It's hard to keep track always.

Here's what I want you to do:

  1. Click the right stick in to begin your game
  2. Start of every single game — coaching adjustments
  3. Go auto base protection
  4. Go empty

The reason we start out in empty is because this is the best against stunts and this will keep it consistent every single time.

How It Works

Now when we break the huddle, we're going to be in empty.

If you ever think they might be blitzing somebody — look, we have flame icons. So let's say I know they're going to be blitzing off the right edge, I might just flick the right stick to the right, get a half slide going over there.

And if I'm afraid of this other guy too, I'll just ID the Mike.

But we're basing this all from empty at first so that we're always set up to go and then we're adjusting. We're never guessing what our base protection is.

Believe it or not — against most people, you'll never have to adjust your protection if you just start in empty.

How Do I See The Field Better?

Everything gets bigger for you — especially if you struggle seeing the small buttons on the field.

Look at my buttons right here right now. Now, take a look at my buttons. See how they are massive?

And what's even better is that every icon on the field gets better, including:

  • The passing meter
  • Stars under players
  • Their icons as a running route

Everything is significantly better and bigger, which is awesome if you struggle to see.

Whenever I give this tip, there's always comments talking about how awesome it is.

How To Turn It On

Go into your OptionsAccessibilityEnlarge On-Field Graphics

  • If you want the big buttons and the big everything, turn it on
  • If you don't, just turn it off

This video got your settings right, but now you need to know how to score more touchdowns.
