Oregon State Offensive Playbook

CFB 26offenseplaybook tipspassingrun game

TL;DR

Oregon State has the best all-around playbook in CFB 26 with seven elite formations including Gun Wing Pair (best shotgun run scheme), Gun Y-Off Close (features broken "Flood" play), and Ace Strong Offset. Run any X Close variant from Gun Wing Pair to dominate the ground game, but skip this playbook if you need Pistol formations or single back sets.

Oregon State has the best all-around offensive playbook in CFB 26. Period.

It works for ANY game style. Doesn't matter if you're playing dynasty on the road or competing against the best players in the world — this playbook has formations that can carry you through entire games.

The secret? Oregon State packs MULTIPLE elite formations into one playbook. While other teams might have one or two good looks, Oregon State gives you seven different formations you could build an entire game plan around.

What Makes Oregon State's Playbook Special

Let me be real with you — most playbooks have one good formation and a bunch of filler. Not Oregon State.

This playbook has:

  • Gun Wing Pair - The BEST pure shotgun run mini-scheme in the game
  • Gun Y-Off Close - Features "Flood," one of the most broken plays in CFB 26
  • Ace Strong Offset - Players literally run entire games from just this formation
  • Bunch Nasty - Another formation you could spam all game

The crazy part? These aren't just good formations — they're ELITE formations. Each one has plays that work at every skill level.

When to Use Oregon State's Playbook

Use this playbook when you want:

  • Flexibility to adjust mid-game
  • Multiple ways to attack defenses
  • Simple concepts that actually work
  • Both run AND pass options from the same looks

Skip it if you need:

  • Good Pistol formations (it has none)
  • Strong single back sets (they're pretty bad)

How to Run Gun Wing Pair

Gun Wing Pair is stupid good. Here's why:

ANY formation with "X Close" in the name is money. The unique alignment lets you pound the rock all game. Your opponents won't know what hit them.

Key plays to run:

  • Any X Close variant
  • Power runs from compressed sets
  • Play action off the run game

Gun Wing Halfback Close is solid too, but I don't run it as much. The X Close stuff is where the money's at.

How to Set Up Gun Y-Off Close "Flood"

This formation is NEW to CFB 26 — and it's broken. Here's the setup:

  1. Call "Flood" from Gun Y-Off Close
  2. Tap Y/Triangle to put your ISO receiver on a return route
  3. Read outside-in: Out route → Zig → Return route

That's it. Three steps to one of the best plays in the game.

But here's what makes this formation REALLY special — the auto-motion plays. You get:

  • Motion Mesh Rail with auto-motion wheel
  • Stock plays you CANNOT recreate manually
  • Unique motion that confuses defenses

For the run game, use:

  • RPO Zone Alert Bubble
  • 01 Trap
  • Inside Zone (the normal one)

What Counters Oregon State's Offense

The main weakness? No Pistol formations means you're limited against certain defensive looks.

Defenses that give Oregon State trouble:

  • Heavy blitzes from Pistol-specific counters
  • Defenses that key on Gun formations
  • Teams that force you into single back (remember, Oregon State's single back is weak)

But here's the thing — with SEVEN elite formations, you can always adjust. Defense stopping Gun Wing Pair? Switch to Bunch Nasty. They adjusting to that? Hit them with Ace Strong Offset.

Common Mistakes When Running Oregon State

Biggest mistake? Not using the Twin Tight End package correctly in Ace Strong Offset.

Here's what you do:

  1. Enter Ace Strong Offset
  2. It comes stock with "Twin Tight End" package
  3. Use right stick to change it to DEFAULT
  4. NOW you have one of the best passing formations in the game

People miss this ALL THE TIME. They run the formation with tight ends and wonder why it doesn't work. Change it to default — trust me.

Why Oregon State Works at Every Level

This playbook works because it's SIMPLE.

You don't need complex hot routes. You don't need to memorize 50 plays. Pick two or three formations, master them, and you can compete with anyone.

Dynasty players love it because you can install it quickly with any team. Competitive players love it because the concepts hold up against the best defenses in the game.
